It takes a lot of discipline and willingness to be accountable to publicly examine a Governing Body’s performance. MRG is proud of its ten-year association the Fresno Unified School District, working with the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent. The following article discusses FUSD’s Board evaluation process created and facilitated by MRG in a continuous effort to improve the performance of the Board of Trustees governance. The MRG evaluation process, customized for FUSD, looks at nine performance areas and identifies areas of success and areas where governance can be improved upon. The Board’s self-evaluation this year was supplemented by a cabinet evaluation of the Board that identified many of the same strengths and opportunities. This is a Board best-practice and we’re proud of this work.
