Teri is an experienced professional in Human Resources and local governance. She excels in identifying areas that need focus and developing a strategy to achieve the desired results, guiding the way. Teri achieves results with her dedication to excellence and no-nonsense approach to reaching positive outcomes.
Recently, Teri completed the Bloomberg Harvard Senior Leadership Initiative. In addition, she was the Project Manager for an Innovation Track sponsored by Bloomberg Harvard that focused on community engagement for expanded use of recycled water in the community. Teri has extensive project management experience; she has served as the Executive Sponsor for the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system requiring collaboration with the Finance, Information Systems, and Human Resources Departments. She was also the Executive Sponsor for the successful implementation of an Electronic Records Management System.
Teri has comprehensive experience and skills in Human Resources. Recently, she was responsible for all Human Resources and Risk Management functions for the City of Sunnyvale. The department managed recruitment and classification, employee relations/employee development, benefits administration, and risk management which included property, liability, employee safety, workers compensation, disability interactive process, and employee leave programs. Labor relations included negotiations with 6 bargaining units.
Serving for over 38 years in public service, Teri retired as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Sunnyvale, and before that, she served as the Human Resources Director. Teri also worked for the City of Salinas as the head of Human Resources and multiple years in various support and Human Resources leadership roles for the Soledad Unified School District.
Teri graduated from Golden Gate University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Relations. She also has her Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Chapman University. Teri has completed labor relation academies through the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA). Hard work has resulted in Teri receiving awards including the Human Resources Agency Award for Excellence in 2013 and 2015 from the Northern California Chapter International Public Management Association – Human Resources (NCCIPMA-HR). She also received the League of California Cities Employee Relations Department Professional Excellence Award in 2007.
