Britt Ferguson brings 40 years of local government experience, approximately 30 of which were in executive management-level positions. His career includes city and county management, budget and debt management, long-range fiscal planning, strategic planning, organizational development, organizational and policy analysis, facilities planning, economic development and correctional planning.
Britt provides executive coaching, board governance, strategic planning, long-range fiscal planning, budget training, organizational development, policy, organizational and management analysis.
Most recently, Britt spent 8 years as the Chief Fiscal Officer for Sacramento County, where he oversaw the preparation and administration of the County’s $6.6 billion annual budget, preparation of long-range fiscal forecasts and the County’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and the management of General Fund cash flow and over $2 billion in County debt. Prior to that he spent 8 years as the Assistant County Executive Officer of Napa County. Previous positions included Deputy County Administrator of Solano County, County Manager of Clatsop County, Oregon, Deputy County Administrator of Washington County, Oregon, Deputy Director of Economic and Urban Development for the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, City Manager of the City of Williams, Arizona and Fiscal Analyst for the City of Boulder, Colorado. Britt has a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge and a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Iowa.
Britt’s accomplishments include the development and implementation of strategic financial plans, new budget systems, a comprehensive organizational development program, facilities and adult correctional system master plans, economic development/redevelopment plans and programs, the reorganization of various departments and programs and conducting management studies that resulted in improved services, increased efficiency and significant cost savings.
Throughout his career, Britt has been guided by the goal of creating “ethical organizations,” where employees at all levels ask not just what can be done, but what the right thing to do is.
