Michael Stallings offers advice and counseling in the areas of Parks, Community and Recreation Services. Mike brings over 30 years of experience in providing parks and recreation services to public, private and non-profit agencies in various sized organizations throughout California. His strengths are in organizational collaboration, succession planning and moving organizations forward toward successful outcomes. Mike’s specialties include parks master planning; recreation service design, development and operation; recreation facility management; and revenue and marketing development.
Prior to affiliating with MRG, Mike held various positions in Southern California, filling many community service roles in West Covina. Since then his career has taken him to California’s Central Coast and Central Valley.
Most recently, Mike worked with the City of Daly City and the City of Orinda as Parks and Recreation Director in each of those cities. With Daly City he led a collaboration with the Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Club in planning, fundraising and construction management of the Bayshore Community Center and Library. Mike was also involved in the planning and construction of the Giammona Swim Center, which is the result of a collaborative project between the City of Daly City, the Jefferson Union High School District, the State of California and several fundraising efforts. These were part of a $40,000,000 capital campaign for which Mike was Project Manager. The War Memorial Community Center and Library in Daly City was another project that Mike led as Project Manager. He also was a member of the Daly City Peninsula Partnership.
Mike has been instrumental in the collaborative efforts involving over 50 park developments and redevelopments, numerous community centers, river rehabilitations, trail developments, staff and organizational transitions, and “rails to trails” projects.
In addition to his practical experience, Mike has served on national, state and local boards and committees with a variety of community agendas. In addition, he served as State President of the California Park & Recreation Society.
