Dan Drummond

Law Enforcement

Dan Drummond has over 30 years of law enforcement experience in a variety of assignments including leadership roles with Sacramento County and the Cities of Citrus Heights and West Sacramento. Dan began his 27 year career with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff and held increasingly responsible positions including responsibility for Investigations, Detention and ultimately serving as Chief Deputy responsible for the law enforcement activities of over 1,200 Deputies.

Dan also developed Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department contract law enforcement services program to provide police services to newly incorporated cities in Sacramento County. The Cities of Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova and Elk Grove all contracted for Sheriff’s Department services under this model. Dan served for three years as the first Police Chief of the City of Citrus Heights following incorporation and established that department. After leaving Sacramento County, Dan was appointed Police Chief in the City of West Sacramento where he has served for the past 8 years. During Dan’s tenure he developed a number of innovative and successful programs designed to provide professional law enforcement services in an era of shrinking resources.

Dan has affiliated with MRG for over five years and has played key roles in the following projects:

  • Consolidation studies for the Millbrae and San Bruno Police Departments
  • Consolidation studies for the City of Hollister and San Benito County Sheriff’s Departments
  • Police overtime studies for the City of Richmond
  • Law enforcement alternative studies for the City of Lathrop

Dan has his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from Sacramento State University.
